I always have problems applying winged liner equally for both eyes…Is it merely a matter of practice or is there any trick we can try?

Always draw one perfect liner on the eye you cannot draw like for e.g. applying makeup in the left eye is a bit difficult unless you are amphidextrous. No particular trick though I liked the one told by a famous makeup artist Jeanine Lobell. Paint a dot where you want the liner to end and begin drawing backwards and always draws the line in the direction where your brows naturally end

What day cream would you recommend for combination skin? I honestly get a bit fed up when I’m in a hurry and still have to layer moisturizer, sunscreen and what not. Is there any shortcut for this?

There is no shortcut to skin care because our skin does not think the way our brain does, about itself. Sun exposure causes solar scarring underneath the skin and if this does not heal it leads to shattering of the support structure and immediate appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. The treatments of the same make you spend millions at a dermatologist’s office. Now the choice is yours. I guess even if you are in a hurry you must learn to prioritize and take some time out of your busy scheduling for a bit of skin care. Apply moisturizer immediately after you take bath (it saves time) and keep the face wash in the bathroom to wash your face while taking bath (saves time again). Ideally sunscreens take 30 mins to settle but if you are on the run you could use sunscreen based powders like the ones from Peter Thomas Roth etc. that give immediate sunscreen protection.

While contouring, how can we match the darker shade with the blush shade? Some friends have told me that any would do as long as the contouring shade is dark. However some others say it absolutely has to be in the same color family. Help please!!

Ideally a contouring shade shade should be 2 colors darker than your skin tone to add subtle contours and preferably from the cooler family as the hollows of cheeks never look warm. But if you want contouring shades then buy classic matte bronzers like Benefit Hoola. Contouring is not about “dark”, it is about “sculpting” so everyone’s ways should be different. You are supposed to coordinate colors only if you feel so but please go ahead and learn on trial and error basis. Even a darker compact powder is a good contouring powder and if you can then order the Stila contour and highlight palette which is amazing.

I had gotten a bad case of sunburn on my arms about 6yrs earlier. Till now I have dark patches on my wrists. Is there anything you can suggest for this? The patches are not overly dark but still seem a bit prominent.

I’d suggest you to use Clinique Solar smart body sunscreen SPF 50 on the exposed areas of your body to sun. Twice a week scrub with Clinique Sparkle skin body polisher and at night use Turnaround Body smoothing cream. This will fairly even out your skin and take care of the dark patches eventually. It’s a tried and tested method in Clinique.

A lot of frost finish lipsticks and sticky glosses make my lips a bit chapped and flaky. Is there any balm I can use as a balm or afterwards to soothe my lips?

You can buy a lip exfoliator from good brands or else this is something I like. With a wet toothbrush massage some sugar crystals gently on your lips once a week. See that the toothbrush is very very soft and u don’t get bleeding from lips. Then use a heavy duty lip balm from any brand you like. For chapped lips, Clinique High impact lipsticks SPF 15 are very apt as they moisturize and have sun protection to eliminate the causes of chapping and hurting of lips. Remember not to bite Ur lips often to remove the dead skin and use moisturizing glosses with benefits of lip balms. I’d personally advice you to stay away from frosted, matte as well as glittery lipsticks and glosses.
